Sulfonylurea Receptors
Sulfonylurea receptors (SURs) are a type of transmembrane protein that function as subunits of ATP-sensitive potassium (KATP) channels in pancreatic beta cells and other tissues. These receptors are the target of sulfonylurea drugs, which are commonly used to treat type 2 diabetes. When a sulfonylurea drug binds to the SUR, it triggers the closure of the KATP channel, leading to an increase in insulin secretion from the pancreatic beta cells. There are two main types of SURs, SUR1 and SUR2, which differ in their expression patterns and sensitivity to sulfonylurea drugs.

Tolbutamid
Tolbutamid är ett oralsamt antidiabetikum som används för att behandla typ 2-diabetes.
