Nestin

Neural Stem Cells
Neural stem cells (NSCs) are a type of stem cell found in the brain and spinal cord, which have the ability to differentiate into various cell types of the nervous system, including neurons, astrocytes, and oligodendrocytes. They are self-renewing, meaning they can divide and produce more NSCs, and they play a crucial role in the development, maintenance, and repair of the central nervous system throughout life.

POU-domänfaktorer
POU-domain factors are a family of transcription factors that bind to specific DNA sequences and play crucial roles in regulating gene expression during development and differentiation of various organisms, including humans. These factors are named after the three founding members, Pit-1, Oct-1, and Unc-86, which all contain a highly conserved POU domain for DNA binding and dimerization. The POU domain consists of two subdomains, a POU-specific domain and a POU-homeodomain, that recognize and bind to unique DNA motifs, often found in the regulatory regions of target genes. POU-domain factors are involved in various biological processes such as cell growth, apoptosis, and organismal development, making them essential for normal physiology and potentially relevant in disease states.
