Small Molecule Libraries
A small molecule library is a collection of chemically synthesized, low molecular weight (up to approximately 900 daltons) compounds that are used in drug discovery and development research. These libraries typically contain hundreds to thousands of diverse and structurally distinct molecules, which can be screened against specific targets or diseases to identify potential lead compounds with therapeutic activity. Small molecule libraries may include natural products, synthetic compounds, or a combination of both, and are often used in high-throughput screening (HTS) assays to quickly and efficiently identify promising hits for further development.
Kombinatorisk kemi
High-Throughput Screening Assays
High-throughput screening (HTS) assays are a class of biochemical or cellular assays that are performed in a high-throughput format, allowing for the rapid and efficient testing of large libraries of chemicals or biological molecules. These assays are typically automated and miniaturized, enabling the simultaneous testing of thousands to millions of compounds in a single experiment. The goal of HTS assays is to identify hit compounds that modulate a specific biomolecular target or pathway, which can then be further optimized and developed into lead compounds for drug discovery and development.

Medicinska bibliotek
