3-Hydroxydihydrobenzofuran glucosides from Gnaphalium polycaulon. (2/5)

A new 3-hydroxydihydrobenzofuran glucoside, gnaphaliol 9-O-beta-D-glucopyranoside (2), was isolated from the aerial parts of Gnaphalium polycaulon together with 1-{(2R*,3S*-3-(beta-D-glucopyranosyloxy)-2,3-dihydro-2-[1-(hydroxyl methyl)vinyl]-1-benzofuran-5-yl}-ethanone or gnaphaliol 3-O-beta-D-glucopyranoside (1), (Z)-3-hexenyl O-beta-D-glucopyranoside (3) and adenosine (4). The absolute configurations at C-2 and C-3 positions of compound 1 were determined to be 2R and 3R. The structures of these compounds were elucidated on the basis of their physical and spectroscopic data.  (+info)

"Gnaphalium" is a term that refers to a genus of flowering plants in the family Asteraceae. Commonly known as cudweeds, these plants are native to temperate regions of the Northern Hemisphere, with some species found in South America and South Africa. The leaves of many Gnaphalium species are covered with small hairs that give them a soft, woolly texture.

However, "Gnaphalium" is not a term commonly used in modern medical terminology. While some Gnaphalium species have been used in traditional medicine, there is limited scientific evidence to support their effectiveness for specific health conditions. Therefore, it is important to consult with a healthcare provider before using any herbal remedies or supplements.

I apologize for any confusion, but "achyrocline" is not a medical term or condition. It is actually the name of a genus of plants in the family Asteraceae, also known as the daisy family. The most common species is Achyrocline satureioides, which is native to South America and has been used in traditional medicine for various purposes.

If you have any questions related to medical terminology or health concerns, I would be happy to try to help answer them for you.

Phytochemicals are compounds that are produced by plants (hence the "phyto-") for their own defense against predators and diseases. They are found in various plant parts such as fruits, vegetables, grains, legumes, nuts, and teas. Phytochemicals can have beneficial effects on human health as they exhibit protective or disease preventive properties.

These compounds belong to a diverse group with varying structures and chemical properties. Some common classes of phytochemicals include carotenoids, flavonoids, phenolic acids, organosulfides, and alkaloids. They have been shown to possess antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-cancer, and immune system-enhancing properties, among others.

It is important to note that while phytochemicals can contribute to overall health and wellness, they should not be considered a cure or treatment for medical conditions. A balanced diet rich in various fruits, vegetables, and whole foods is recommended for optimal health benefits.
