Four new triterpene glycosides from Nigella damascena. (1/1)
Four new triterpene glycosides, named nigellosides A, B, C, and D, were from the air-dried aerial parts of Nigella damascena L. (Ranunculaceae), and the structures were elucidated on the basis of spectroscopic data including 2D NMR spectra and chemical evidence. Their chemical structures have been characterized as 3-O-alpha-L-rhamnopyranosyl-(1-->2)-alpha-L-arabinopyranosyl gypsogenin 28-beta-D-glucopyranosyl-(1-->6)-beta-D-glucopyranosyl ester, 3-O-beta-D-glucopyranosyl-(1-->3)-alpha-L-rhamnopyranosyl-(1-->2)-alpha-L-arabino pyranosyl gypsogenin 28-beta-D-glucopyranosyl-(1-->6)-beta-D-glucopyranosyl ester, 3-O-alpha-L-rhamnopyranosyl-(1-->2)-beta-D-xylopyranosyl hederagenin 28-beta-D-glucopyranosyl-(1-->6)-beta-D-glucopyranosyl ester, and 3-O-beta-D-glucopyranosyl-(1-->3)-alpha-L-rhamnopyranosyl-(1-->2)-beta-D-xylopyra nosyl hederagenin 28-beta-D-glucopyranosyl-(1-->6)-beta-D-glucopyranosyl ester. (+info)'Nigella damascena' is not a medical term. It is the scientific name for a plant species that is commonly known as Love-in-a-Mist. Love-in-a-Mist is an ornamental flowering plant native to southern Europe and western Asia. The seeds of this plant are sometimes used in cooking and have been used in traditional medicine, although there is limited scientific evidence supporting their effectiveness for medicinal purposes.
"Nigella sativa," also known as black cumin, is not a medical term but a botanical name for a plant that has been used in traditional medicine. The seeds of this plant are used as a spice and have been used in various traditional medicinal systems for their potential health benefits. However, it's important to note that while some studies suggest possible health benefits, more research is needed before any definitive medical claims can be made.
The seeds contain thymoquinone, which has been studied for its antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and potential anticancer properties. However, these studies have primarily been conducted in vitro or on animals, and more research is needed to determine the safety and efficacy of Nigella sativa in humans for these purposes.
Therefore, it's always recommended to consult with a healthcare professional before starting any new supplement regimen, including the use of Nigella sativa seeds or oil.
"Nigella" is a term that refers to the seeds or oil derived from the Nigella sativa plant, also known as black cumin or fennel flower. The seeds and oil have been used in traditional medicine for various health purposes, such as treating digestive issues, respiratory conditions, and headaches. However, it is important to note that while some studies suggest potential health benefits of Nigella, more research is needed to confirm its effectiveness and safety.
I'm sorry for any confusion, but "Rosa" is not a medical term. It is the scientific name for the genus of plants that includes roses. If you have a question about a medical condition or term, I would be happy to help if you could provide more information.
Unani medicine, also known as Unani Tibb or Arabic medicine, is a traditional system of medicine that originated in ancient Greece and was later developed and refined by Islamic physicians. The term "Unani" is derived from the Arabic word "Yunani," which means "Greek."
The fundamental principles of Unani medicine are based on the teachings of Hippocrates, Galen, and Ibn Sina (also known as Avicenna), who wrote the famous book "The Canon of Medicine" in the 10th century. According to Unani philosophy, good health is achieved by maintaining a balance between the four humors or bodily fluids: blood, phlegm, yellow bile, and black bile.
Unani medicine uses a variety of therapies, including herbal remedies, dietary modifications, lifestyle changes, exercise, and massages to restore this balance and promote healing. It also emphasizes the use of natural and organic substances in its treatments.
In India, Unani medicine is recognized as one of the national systems of medicine and is regulated by the Central Council of Indian Medicine (CCIM). There are several institutions and colleges that offer education and training in Unani medicine, and many practitioners of Unani medicine practice throughout the country.
