A plant genus of the family ZYGOPHYLLACEAE. Members contain SAPONINS.
A plant family of the order Sapindales, subclass Rosidae, class Magnoliopsida which is a small family of small trees and shrubs growing in arid and warm regions.
A plant genus in the CHENOPODIACEAE family.

Two new saponins from Zygophyllum atriplicoides. (1/4)

Phytochemicals investigation of the whole plant of Zygophyllum atriplicoides resulted in the isolation of two new triterpenoidal saponins together with a known compound. The structure of the new compounds atriplicosaponin A (1) and atriplicosaponin B (2) were established as 3-O-[alpha-D-glucopyranosyl-(1-->2)-beta-D-xylopyranosyl]-hederagenin and 27 alpha-hydroxyurs-12-ene-3-O-[beta-D-glucopyranosyl(1-->4)(2-O-sulpho)-beta-D-quin ovopyranoside] and known compound was identified as 3-O-[beta-D-glucopyranosyl]-beta-sitosterol. The structure elucidations of the compounds were based primarily on 1D and 2D-NMR analysis, including COSY, HMBC and HMQC correlations.  (+info)

Triterpenoidal saponins from the barks of Zygophyllum fabago L. (2/4)

Two new triterpenoid saponins, zygophylosides O (1) and P (2), have been isolated from the barks of Zygophyllum fabago L. Their structures were elucidated as 3beta-[(2-O-sulfo-beta-D-xylopyranosyl)oxy]urs-12-ene-27,28-dioic acid and 3beta-[(2-O-sulfo-beta-D-xylopyranosyl)oxy]urs-12-ene-27,28-dioic acid 28-beta-D-glucopyranoside, respectively, by spectral and chemical evidence. Compound 1 showed weaker Nitric Oxide (NO) inhibitory activity.  (+info)

Two sulfated triterpenoidal saponins from the barks of Zygophyllum fabago L. (3/4)

Two new sulfated triterpenoid saponins, zygophylosides Q (1) and R (2), have been isolated from the barks of Zygophyllum fabago L. Their structures were elucidated as 3beta,24,28,30-tetrahydro-urs-20-ene-24-O-sulphonyl-3-O-[beta-D-glucopyranosyl]-3 0-O-beta-D-glucopyranoside and 3beta,24,28,30-tetrahydro-urs-20-ene-24-O-sulphonyl-3-O-[beta-D-xylopyranosyl]-30 -O-beta-D-glucopyranoside, respectively, by spectral and chemical evidence.  (+info)

A survey of the microbial community in the rhizosphere of two dominant shrubs of the Negev Desert highlands, Zygophyllum dumosum (Zygophyllaceae) and Atriplex halimus (Amaranthaceae), using cultivation-dependent and cultivation-independent methods. (4/4)

I apologize for any confusion, but "Zygophyllum" is not a medical term. It is a genus of flowering plants in the family Zygophyllaceae, commonly known as the creosote bush or shrubby calculus. These plants are native to arid regions of Africa and Asia. They have small, greenish flowers and seed pods that resemble the shape of a boat. If you're looking for medical definitions or information, I would be happy to help with that as well. Could you please clarify your question?

Zygophyllaceae is not a medical term, but a taxonomic category in botany. It refers to the family name of a group of flowering plants commonly known as "caltrop family" or "creosote bush family." The plants in this family are primarily found in arid and semi-arid regions worldwide.

Some members of Zygophyllaceae have been used in traditional medicine, but it is essential to note that the use of any plant for medicinal purposes should be done under the guidance of a qualified healthcare professional, as not all plants are safe or effective for treating medical conditions.

"Atriplex" is a genus of plants that belongs to the family Chenopodiaceae. It includes several species commonly known as saltbushes or orache. These plants are native to various parts of the world, including North America, Europe, and Asia. They are often found in salty or alkaline soils and have a tolerance for drought conditions. Some species of Atriplex are used for food, medicine, or as ornamental plants. However, I am not aware of any specific medical definition associated with the term "Atriplex." If you have more context or information about how this term is being used in a medical sense, I would be happy to help further!
