Bazzanane sesquiterpenoids from the New Zealand liverwort Frullania falciloba. (1/1)
Two new bazzanane-type sesquiterpenoids have been isolated from the New Zealand liverwort Frullania falciloba. Their structures were confirmed by NMR and CD spectroscopy and chemical reactivity. (+info)"Frullania" is not a medical term, but rather a genus of leafy liverworts that are commonly found growing on the bark of trees and other moist surfaces in various parts of the world. Liverworts are non-vascular plants, which means they do not have specialized tissues for transporting water and nutrients, like vascular plants (such as ferns, flowering plants, and conifers) do.
While Frullania species may not be directly relevant to medical definitions, it is worth noting that some people may experience contact dermatitis or skin irritation after coming into contact with these liverworts. This is because they contain certain chemicals that can cause an allergic reaction in sensitive individuals. However, this is relatively rare and not typically a significant concern for most people.
