The redwood plant family of the order Pinales, class Pinopsida, division CONIFEROPHYTA (Conifers).

Flavonoids from Metasequoia glyptostroboides. (1/2)

From the autumnal leaves of Metasequoia glypstostroboides were isolated: 3'-O-glucoside tricetin and ginkgetin, bilobetin, 2,3-dihydroisoginkgetin--new compounds in this plant.  (+info)

Five new diterpenoids from the bark of Taiwania cryptomerioides. (2/2)

Five new diterpenoids, 11-hydroxyabieta-8,11,13-trien-7-one (1), 11,12,14-trihydroxyabieta-8,11,13-trien-7-one (2), 6beta,7alpha-diacetoxyroyleanone (3), 7beta-hydroxymanoyl oxide (4), and 9alpha-hydroxyisopimara-8(14),15-dien-7-one (5) were obtained from the bark of Taiwania cryptomerioides. The structures of the new compounds 1-5 were elucidated on the basis of spectral analysis and chemical evidence.  (+info)

Taxodiaceae is a former classification of a family of coniferous trees, now included in the family Cupressaceae. It was previously used to describe a group of mostly extinct and a few living species of trees that share similarities with the redwoods (Sequoioideae). The name "Taxodiaceae" is still sometimes used in a broader sense to refer to this group, but it is not considered a valid taxonomic classification under modern systems.

The family Taxodiaceae was traditionally defined to include several genera of conifers, including:

* *Cryptomeria* (Japanese cedar)
* *Glyptostrobus* (Chinese swamp cypress)
* *Metasequoia* (Dawn redwood)
* *Sequoia* (Coast redwood)
* *Sequoiadendron* (Giant sequoia or Sierra redwood)
* *Taiwania* (Taiwan red cypress)
* *Taxodium* (Bald cypress and Pond cypress)

However, modern molecular studies have shown that these genera are not as closely related to each other as previously thought. As a result, they have been reclassified into different subfamilies within the family Cupressaceae.

Therefore, there is no medical definition of 'Taxodiaceae' as it does not refer to any specific medical condition or treatment.
