Sorbus
Self-Fertilization
In human biology and genetics, "self-fertilization" is not a commonly used term. It generally refers to the fertilization of an ovum (egg) with sperm from the same individual, resulting in offspring that are genetically identical to the parent. This phenomenon is more commonly observed in plants and lower organisms but is not possible in humans due to biological constraints. In mammals, including humans, sexually mature females produce ova (eggs) that need to be fertilized by sperm from a genetically distinct male. The offspring produced from this type of sexual reproduction have a combination of genetic material from both the mother and father, resulting in unique genetic characteristics.
