Feels like there is a grain of sand in my left eye

Hello,

Peridically, whenever I blink it feels like there is grain of sand in it that aggravates it (literally)  My eyes start to water profusely and then turns red. There is nothing in it and even spent some of this morning "plucking" out some of my long eyelashes that could be poking it.  This is in it's second day now. Don't have time to JSAFD. Any ideas or fixes? I have a bad cold now so I don't know if that is related in some way...
