I splattered a drop of concentrated phenol:chloroform solution while performing DNA extraction on my hand. Initially, I didn't feel anything and then I noticed a white substance forming on my skin where the phenol had made contact with. Then I felt a slight burning sensation. I immediately washed my hands with water, and the burning sensation slowly disappeared. However, I noticed that a small area of my skin has turned purple, like when you accidentally burn your skin while handling hot items or accidentally flaming your skin. The scar doesnt appear too bad but I just wanted to know if such a burn scar caused by a chemical is permanent? Please help.
