Could my my dog who just passed away from the citrobacter Freundii bacteria have infected my family?

My dog passed away a week ago.  Now my husband and I both have diarrhea.  I took my husband to the hospital where they ordered a stool sample.  How long does the test take?  Since this bacteria is also found in the natural intestine flora, would this prevent us from getting an accurate result?  should we request a blood test instead?  The doctor have never heard of this bacteria and i felt I wasn't being taken seriously, should I request to see what test has the doctor ordered?
